Many people approached Lorne about his Spyder and wanted to know more about our club. I realize that we do have this venue to interact but I was wondering why we do not have a Facebook page to promote inclusion, rides, information etc. I am willing to be a moderator for this. Please let me know what the general concensus is. Are most of us partakers of Facebook?

It is hard enough getting people to post in on place. To add Facebook to the mix would be a non-starter I think.

I personally use Facebook more than I do this forum. But I think Rob is right and Facebook is generally used by the younger Generations more often who generally can't afford our machines . I think the majority of the people in the club have got this system figured out and it works for them. But you're right, for growth Facebook would be the way to go

I am a member of a number of groups that have both Internet forums and Facebook forums. In pretty well all of them the Internet forums have much greater use than the Facebook ones.

For exposure of the group and our Spyders, Facebook is the way to go. the forum is good if you're part of it or come across it in a search, if you want to get the word out and show off our machines. Facebook it!

The Facebook thing comes up every couple years.  General consensus is always the same and as noted with some of the posts above, most owners are not on Facebook.  Its the demographic of area riders.  I like the idea but thats probably related to the fact Im on FB everyday already!

I am one of the holdouts in joining Facebook but if someone wants to setup a Spyalta page I don't see the harm in it and may just increase our clubs exposure.

It is easy enough to setup a Facebook group, I am creator/moderator on a couple. But we will have to make decisions on closed, semi-closed, public etc.; how many moderators etc. Also, as the web forum is hosted by MMS - who owns/controls the Spyalta name?

I think we could negotiate a licensing deal for the Facebook group to use the Spyalta name!

I'm on facebook pretty much daily too. I like the idea. Maybe find some spyder riders in my area.

Mark Zucherberg, (not sure of spelling) owner, inventor of Face Book states in the future every one will know everything about everyone. That is his statement in an interview about privacy. So with that in mind who in their  right mind would  want a face book?
DQ   a non face book person.
